Keep Calm & Move On

Allah is really kind because He teaches me to be strong in life. So many times we fall and get beaten up in life, but actually, that's just a training that Allah wants us to go through so we become better and tougher.

Winning the recent IYCE 2012 competition was a huuuuuuge thing for me, and I can never thank Allah enough for this opportunity. Weeks of developing and improving my proposal & presentation, rehearsing with S, beefing up my materials, it was all so worth it! However, my size of happiness became even bigger as I learned something more valuable than just winning..

Just a few hours after the winner announcement, an email blast was sent to all participants & officials of the event. The email consists of concerns and disagreements about the result, strongly stating that "Diana Rikasari does NOT deserve to win", because "her business is not relevant to the category she's participating in", and that "her idea is not innovative at all", leading to the big question "was this competition staged?". It was a loooooong email, but basically those were the points.

WOW.

That actually felt like I just walked down the stage carrying my trophy and someone came up to me and slapped my face in front of everyone hehehe...

What went on my mind after reading that email:

1. Nothing. Just simply shocked and confused.
2. "Oh man, can't I just enjoy my moment?"
3. Super weird.
4. Whatever.

I was sad, yes. But then I laughed and smiled and thought that Allah is humorous when it comes to giving me life-lessons. I guess it's things like these that keep someone humble and small. That no matter what you do, what you achieve, some people will just not like you that much and continuously underestimate you...and that's good! Life is full of surprises (bitter & sweet), so we have to be prepared at all times.

Winning is not a status or an end-result anyway...it's a mentality that you carry in life to keep trying and become better each and every day.

Yayyy! :)
